Assignment 5- Diptych, "Hats of Change"
My concept is then and now. I was originally going to use a pregnancy picture as my "then" drawing and a newborn picture of my son as my "now" drawing. But I changed my mind. My "then" drawing is now a picture of my son from almost three years ago. My "now" drawing is me, looking disheveled because I balance fulltime school, work, and kids everyday. I am very grateful for the life I have today. I don't want to complain about it (the mask is a symbol). I keep my eyes on the prize. After all, we all wear many hats.
Assignment 4- Organizing Picture Plane- I divided my picture plane into 5 rectangular separations and drew this old scale from multiple different vantage points.
Assignment 3- Self-portrait sketch- I enjoyed doing this assignment. I put in a lot of time with multiple attempts, not all of which made a positive improvement. I see where my sketch could still need attention (like the nose and perhaps darker eyebrows) but I fear wrecking it completely again. To me this sketch shows that perhaps I do have some level of artistic ability I have never before tried to harvest and it is very cool to see this skill within myself develop a bit more.
